03 / AEO + GEO
Why good SEO still comes first for AI search
People are asking AI tools who to use, what to buy and where to go.
Your website should be part of that picture. We make your services, experience and business information easier to find and understand. It starts with the same foundations as good SEO: pages that answer what customers ask, and evidence that you do the work.
A / The foundations
So what are AEO and GEO?
- AEO
Answer engine optimisation - Making your information easy to quote when a search tool gives someone a direct answer. Think clear explanations of your services, costs, process and the questions customers actually ask.
- GEO
Generative engine optimisation - Work aimed at helping your business appear in answers generated by AI tools. That can mean your business being mentioned or your website being linked as a source.
B / Keep it in proportion
Growing fast but still a small traffic source.
In an Ahrefs dataset covering 74,752 websites, chatbots sent just 0.28% of total traffic in March 2026, and 0.41% by August. AI search deserves attention despite still being a minority of traffic. Similarweb’s September 2026 analysis estimated that average monthly visits from chatbot links worldwide more than doubled in June 2025–May 2026 compared with the previous 12 months, helped by a ChatGPT change in May that turned brand names in answers into links. Growth is real, but it starts from a small base.
Those figures only count visits traced to a chatbot link, so they leave out Google’s AI answers and people who act on a recommendation without clicking.
Our approach is to prepare your site as part of its ongoing SEO, then put effort where the evidence supports it. A small number of relevant enquiries can still be valuable.
C / What we actually do
Questions people ask before they ring you
Where the questions come from
We use the same research that guides your SEO: your services, the searches around them and the questions you hear from customers. Someone asking whether a heat pump suits their home wants help deciding, and a page that talks them through it does far more than one repeating “heat pump installer”.
We put your experience on the page
We explain what you do, where you work, what affects the price and what happens next. Real project examples, relevant qualifications and customer feedback give those answers substance. We improve the right existing page or plan a new one when a question needs more room.
Can search tools read your pages?
We check that relevant search systems can reach and read the pages, that business details agree and that pages link together sensibly. Where structured data helps, it describes the actual business and page content.
Tracking what it brings in
With the tracking in place, we review identifiable AI referrals alongside search visits and enquiries. Being mentioned, getting a click and winning a customer are different results. We use the available evidence to choose the next improvement.

What we get asked about AI search
Can you guarantee that an AI tool will recommend us?
No. We can improve what you publish and check that AI tools can reach it, but what they say about you is down to them.
Do I need a separate AEO or GEO package?
Our Growth and Authority plans already include customer questions and business information within their planned content work. Authority adds wider AI question coverage and supporting evidence. We agree the priorities and scope with you, so you know what you are paying for. Compare the plans.

What do your customers always ask you?
Put those questions in the brief, or ring 07395 584719 and talk them through. That’s usually where we start.
