Web design for trades and small businesses in Doncaster

A proper online home for your business.

You’ve put time and care into what you do; now your website should show it.

We build websites around your work and your brand. Clear services, a portfolio of work and a useful experience on a phone. If your business needs it, a straightforward route to a conversation with your customers.

A / Design & identity

A website that feels
like your business.

The bespoke two-floor JW Strata workshop, with workbenches, a studio and displays for each service
Our own digital workshop, designed and built in Blender for JW Strata.

The way your website looks tells people something about your business before they’ve read a word. We start with the identity you already have, or the one you’re building, and design around it.

For JW Strata, we built a workshop visitors can explore. It introduces the people behind the business and gives each service a place of its own. That was the right idea for us. Your site needs an idea that belongs to you.

That might mean giving photographs of your work more room, making a specialist service easier to understand, or putting your personality into the page. The design should help someone get a feel for who they’re choosing.

B / What goes on it

What would a customer
want to know?

The work you want to show

For a trades business, photographs of completed jobs can often answer questions that a description alone can’t. A consultant might need to explain their experience and approach while a shop needs to show what’s available and give people a reason to visit.

We work out what deserves the space on your site and organise it so visitors can find it. If the materials are scattered across your phone, social accounts and old documents, we can collate it all for you.

What happens after someone is interested?

They might want to ring you. They might want to ask for a quote or make a direct booking. We build around the contact route that suits your business, asking for the information you need without making it feel arduous.

That route needs to work on a phone too. Navigation, text, images and forms are designed for the screen someone is most likely to be using.

The work behind the page

Page titles, headings, internal links and appropriate structured data help explain what’s on the site. Technical SEO foundations and basic on-page SEO are included in every website plan.

Growing your search presence takes work beyond just launching a site. Growth and Authority include ongoing content and search work; the local SEO page explains that side in more detail.

C / Working with us

You’ll work with
Billy and Jamie.

We want to understand your business before deciding what to build. What do you offer? Who are you trying to reach? If you already have a website, what would you change about it?

From that conversation, we can scope the pages, features and content responsibilities. You’ll review the design and content before launch, with feedback coming straight to the people building it.

If we’re replacing an existing site, we plan the changeover around your domain, hosting and any connected services. Your current website stays in place while the replacement is being prepared. If we manage your domain, we will deal with your old provider to get it transferred over.

Once it’s live, we keep looking after it. Hosting, SSL, backups, maintenance and an allowance for minor changes are part of every plan.

E / Before we start

A few things
you might be wondering.

Do I need a completely new website?

Not necessarily: send us the one you have and explain what’s bothering you about it. That gives us somewhere to start when deciding whether to improve what’s there or replace it. Actually totally ripping out an established site can hurt traffic and remove URLs that were driving customers to view your business. We will assess things like this before making any changes. Even then, there’s no guarantee a new site will do better on Google than the old one.

What if I don’t have finished copy or professional photographs?

Bring what you have. Notes about your services and photographs of your own work are a starting point. We agree who is supplying and writing the content in the proposal, including any extra photography or specialist work the project needs.

What happens to my existing website and email?

We check how your domain, website and email are connected before planning a changeover. Moving a website does not mean every service needs to move with it.

Can I ask for changes after launch?

Yes. Website includes up to 5 change requests a month, Growth 10 and Authority 15. New functionality and larger changes are quoted separately. See the allowances and turnaround targets.

What do I keep if I leave?

Your domain and supplied content remain yours. After the initial 12 months, with payments settled, you can take your website files and relevant content exports to another provider. Our hosting and ongoing services stop on the agreed cancellation date. Third-party licences and any migration work are dealt with separately. Read the handover details.
